High Stakes in the City: NYC’s Casino Race Down to Eight Final Bids

The final competition for three coveted casino licenses in the New York City area is officially underway, with eight developers submitting proposals to the state’s Gaming Facility Location Board.

These projects, spanning Manhattan, The Bronx, and Queens, promise massive developments featuring hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues, and extensive gaming space.

Key locations include Times Square, Coney Island, and Citi Field — all facing community backlash over potential disruption. Proposals come from major industry names, including Bally’s, Caesars, Roc Nation, and Mohegan.

Final decisions are expected by the end of the year, marking a pivotal moment in NYC’s gambling expansion, a decade after voters approved statewide casino growth in 2013.
